Meet Rose!
Hi, I’m the founder of Leaps & Bounds Speech Therapy and a speech-language pathologist with more than 14 years of experience working with children.
I earned my Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Houston. I have had the privilege of working with children in a variety of settings, including pediatric therapy clinics, home health, and a school serving children with autism. I have also served as a Team Lead at Foundations Pediatric Therapy and Winter Pediatric Therapy.
Over the years, my experiences have taught me that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to helping children. Every child is different, and effective therapy starts with taking the time to understand the whole child and not just their challenges.
Seeing the Whole Child
I believe children are so much more than their therapy goals. When I work with a child, I take the time to understand what interests them, what they love, and how they learn best. I consider what helps them feel comfortable and regulated and what motivates them to connect and communicate with others. These things matter because when therapy is built around a child’s interests and individual needs, progress becomes more meaningful. Skills become more functional, and gains are more likely to carry over into everyday life.
Why I Created Leaps & Bounds Speech Therapy
I created Leaps & Bounds Speech Therapy because I wanted to provide the kind of care I believe every child deserves. Speech therapy should be thoughtful, individualized, and centered around the child and family. I wanted to create a practice where therapy isn’t about simply following a predetermined plan or checking skills off a list. Instead, therapy is thoughtfully shaped around each individual child.
As a mobile practice, I can also bring speech therapy into the environment where children naturally live, learn, and communicate. Not only is this more convenient and accessible for families, but children are given opportunities to practice meaningful skills in the places that matter most.
A Little More About Me
My connection with children began long before I became a speech-language pathologist. Growing up in a family with eight siblings taught me early on that every person is unique. It also gave me plenty of experience being around children and learning to appreciate their different personalities and needs.I genuinely enjoy getting to know each child as an individual.
I feel incredibly fortunate to do work that allows me to support children and families during such important years of development. It is my hope that every child who comes through Leaps & Bounds leaves with greater confidence in themselves and skills that they can carry with them throughout their lives.
