What To Expect
From the initial evaluation to ongoing therapy, we take the time to understand your child and create a plan that fits their unique needs. You’ll always know what we’re working toward, how we’re supporting progress, and how you can be involved along the way.
We Start With Connection
We begin with a friendly conversation to understand your child’s strengths, needs, and goals.
Initial Evaluation
We begin with a personalized initial evaluation. We take time to understand your child as a whole—including their communication skills, strengths, interests, challenges, and what matters most to your family. Standardized and informal testing is completed.
Personalized Plan
From there, we develop an individualized treatment plan with parents which consists of long-term and short-term goals together. We also provide recommendations for therapy frequency and session length that are most appropriate for your child and their needs.
We then create playful, purposeful sessions built around your child’s unique strengths, interests, and communication needs.
Ongoing Support
We monitor your child’s progress and adjust goals and strategies as needed. We collaborate with parents to support communication beyond the therapy session.
Together, we work toward turning small steps into meaningful leaps and bounds as your child works toward their goals..
Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that starting speech therapy is a big step, and you may have questions about how we work, what to expect, and how we can support your child’s communication journey. Explore our most common inquiries here, or reach out to us directly for a personalized consultation.
How often will my child need speech therapy?
Every child is different. Following the initial evaluation, we provide recommendations for the frequency and session length that best fit your child’s needs. This may be one to three sessions per week from 45 to 60 minutes. Parents/caregivers ultimately decide what session frequency works best for their family. As your child progresses, we reassess their needs and adjust the frequency and session length accordingly. The goal is to provide the level of support your that child needs without unnecessary therapy.
What makes your approach different?
Our approach looks beyond isolated skills to understand the whole child. Rather than relying primarily on drills or table-top activities, we use play, movement, relationships, and your child’s interests to create meaningful opportunities for communication. We consider regulation, sensory needs, developmental level, and individual differences while working toward functional goals that matter in everyday life.
How do you measure my child’s progress?
Progress is tracked through ongoing observation, measurable goals, and family feedback. Data is collected and documented during each therapy session to monitor your child’s progress and guide treatment. We also consider your child’s everyday successes and adjust goals and strategies as needed.
What do sessions look like?
Sessions are individualized, playful, and purposeful. They are not simply focused on sitting at a table and completing drills. We use play, movement, and your child’s interests during therapeutic activities. Activities are tailored to your child.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a private-pay, out-of-network practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we provide a superbill for families to submit to their insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. HSA/FSA payments are accepted. Please see “Services and Fees” for additional information.
How do we get started with an initial assessment?
To get started, simply complete our online inquiry form or call our office. We will schedule a 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your child’s needs and determine if we are a good fit. From there, we’ll schedule a comprehensive evaluation.
